The Circles Collection
Thirty works in three series: ten on black aluminum, ten on white aluminum, and ten narrow vertical works. Across all of them, the circle is the constant: concentric rings, arcs, spirals and radiating lines that build order inside free, fluid color.
Process
Each work begins with color: a palette chosen for the piece, moved and blended across the panel until a composition starts to form. Into that fluid surface, the circles are drawn with tools the artist designs and fabricates himself, which pull the paint aside and reveal the aluminum beneath. The black or white of the panel becomes part of every line.
No two works follow exactly the same path. Some are built almost entirely from rings, others from radiating lines or dense lattices, and that range of approaches is where the variety within the collection comes from.
